South Bend, Washington – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland has issued a high wind warning which is in effect from 4:00 p.m. Thursday to midnight Thursday night. Expect south winds of 35-45 mph with some gusts exceeding 70 mph mainly along beaches and headlands. The strong winds will develop late this afternoon and decrease late this evening with the strongest winds over a two hour period associated with the front. The timing of the frontal passage currently looks to be around 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring.
