Three Arrested for POSSESSION of Stolen Property and Possession of Methamphetamine in Connection to Ocean Park Burglary

10/30/2015

Chinook, WA. – In early October of this year, the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a burglary of a residence located in the 27200 block of X lane in the Ocean Park area. The victim of the crime reported that several articles of jewelry had been stolen, among other items. The victim was able to provide detailed descriptions of the stolen jewelry. Deputies processed the scene of the burglary and began to gather information and leads regarding the incident.

Through investigative efforts, deputies were able to develop information regarding suspects who may had been involved with committing the burglary or possessing some of the stolen property. Deputies had information that some necklaces that had been stolen during the burglary in Ocean Park were hanging from the rear view mirror of a vehicle known to be driven by one of the suspects developed through investigative efforts regarding this case. Deputies went to a residence located in the 800 block of Bussone Lane in the Chinook area to speak with one of the suspects, identified as Kandiss Wardell, age 23. Deputies could see necklaces hanging from the rear view mirror of Wardell’s vehicle in the driveway. The necklaces were taken as evidence and shown to the victim of the burglary. The victim positively identified them.

The investigation then led deputies to a residence located in the 4100 block of 180th place in Long Beach. Deputies made contact with a female at the residence identified as Tracy L. Webb, age 45 in an attempt to recover more of the stolen property. An alert deputy noticed a ring on Webb’s finger that matched the description of one of the articles of jewelry stolen from the victim of the Ocean Park burglary. The ring was taken as evidence.

On October 29th, deputies served two search warrants in connection to the burglary. The first search warrant was served at the Bussone Lane address in Chinook. Deputies once again contacted Kandiss Wardell at that residence. Deputies seized another stolen ring from the burglary directly from Wardell’s finger. Deputies also located other stolen items from the burglary in Wardell’s residence that were identified by the victim. Deputies also located several articles of drug paraphernalia including suspected methamphetamine smoking devices and digital weight scales commonly used to weigh narcotics. They also located a small amount of methamphetamine. During the search warrant at the Chinook residence, deputies also contacted a male person identified as Darrin P. Nichols, age 25. Nichols was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

The second search warrant was served at the residence located in the 4100 block of 180th Place in Long Beach. Deputies again contacted Tracy L. Webb at the residence. Deputies located suspected methamphetamine and several articles of drug paraphernalia at Webb’s residence. No other stolen items were located.

Kandiss Wardell was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property in the 2nd degree and Possession of Methamphetamine and was booked into the Pacific County Jail. Darrin P. Nichols was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and booked into the Pacific County Jail. Tracy L. Webb was arrested for Possession of Stolen Property in the 2nd degree and for Possession of Methamphetamine. Webb was also booked into the Pacific County Jail.

The investigation of the Ocean Park burglary is still ongoing and deputies continue to follow up on leads regarding the incident.

Sheriff Scott Johnson lauded the investigative efforts and tenacity of the deputies conducting the investigation. Johnson stated, “Even though our patrol division remains critically understaffed, I am very proud of the commitment and professionalism that our deputies displayed while investigating this incident” “Our staff’s commitment to our citizens and community remain paramount and we will continue to provide our very best service to the public”.

It's A ShakeOut Selfie Contest

10/9/2015

South Bend, Washington – There is lots “Shaking” during the Great Washington ShakeOut in Pacific County!

·        The Pacific County All Hazard Alert Broadcast (AHAB) outdoor sirens will be tested as part of the Great Washington ShakeOut on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at 10:15 a.m. with the actual tsunami siren tone (a three minute wail). The siren tone will be preceded and followed by a verbal message. This test will help familiarize residents with the sound made by the AHAB sirens during an actual tsunami warning. It will differ from the routine monthly testing that occurs on the first Monday of each month since it will broadcast an audible siren wail tone for the full three minute warning instead of a chime tone. In addition, the voice message will differ from the monthly test.
·        NOAA weather radios set to receive the required monthly test will also activate during this test.

·        Residents can enter the PCEMA “ShakeOut Selfie Contest” by visiting the PCEMA Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pcema and reading and following the stated contest rules.

Pacific County residents are encouraged to participate in the Great Washington ShakeOut by registering at www.shakeout.org/washington/ and by conducting a personal drill such as Drop, Cover, and Hold or an evacuation walk.

Long Beach Man Arrested for Alleged Delivery of Heroin near School Zones

10/1/2015

Long Beach, WA. – On September 25th, the Pacific County Drug Task Force in conjunction with the Long Beach Police Department culminated a month long investigation into the illicit sales of heroin in the Long Beach area. The investigation resulted in the arrest of 23 year old Benjamin Campbell.

Through investigative efforts and controlled purchases of Heroin from Campbell, the Pacific County Drug Task Force was able to develop probable cause to arrest Campbell and obtain a narcotics related search warrant for Campbell’s residence. The controlled purchases of Heroin from Campbell all occurred within 1000 feet of a school bus stop zone.

Campbell was arrested without incident by officers with the Long Beach Police Department during a related traffic stop. Drug Task Force members served the narcotics related search warrant upon Campbell’s residence located in the 1600 block of Oregon Street North. Assistance with the service of the warrant was provided by the Long Beach Police, the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

During the search of Campbell’s residence, officers located several articles of drug paraphernalia and packaging material consistent with the act of narcotics sales. Digital weight scales, small plastic baggies for packaging and several plastic baggies of a powdery substance believed to be a cutting agent were located in the residence. Officers located a small marijuana grow that was illegal in nature. Searching officers also located a loaded SKS assault style rifle and a loaded 20 gauge shotgun in the residence. Officers also seized almost 1,800.00 in cash from Campbell that he had in his pocket during the time of his arrest that they believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales. A small amount of suspected Heroin was also seized from Campbell’s person. Campbell was also carrying “brass knuckles” in his pocket that are considered a dangerous weapon.

Campbell was transported to the Pacific County Jail and booked on charges of three counts of Delivery of Heroin, Manufacturing Marijuana. Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Campbell is being held on 75,000.00 bail.
