(Pictured left to right: Sheriff Scott Johnson, Deputy Zimmerman and Undersheriff Ron Clark) South Bend, Washington – The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Red Flag Warning, which replaces a previously issued Fire Weather Watch, for all of Pacific County, which is in effect from 3:00 p.m. today, Wednesday September 6 - 11:00 p.m. Thursday September 7, 2017.
A Red Flag Warning is issued for weather events which may result in extreme fire behavior. A Fire Weather Watch is issued when weather conditions could exist in the next 12-72 hours. A Red Flag Warning is the highest alert. During these times extreme caution is urged by all residents. The National Weather Service Portland Office is forecasting abundant lightning. Thunderstorms will be moving rapidly through the area. These storms will move through fast enough to prevent widespread wetting rains. Fuels remain critically dry. An outdoor burn ban is already in effect in all of Pacific County. As fire conditions can change frequently, PCEMA will not be posting updated information. Residents are encouraged to check with the Weather Service website for updated information at http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/pqr/. |
