Burglary Suspects Arrested

5/28/2015

Menlo, WA.- On May 25th, the Pacific County Communications Center received a call from a concerned citizen advising that they had observed a male and a female loading items from a vacant house for sale into their vehicle. The caller advised that the situation looked suspicious as the house was for sale and vacant. The caller provided a detailed description of the vehicle at the property.

Pacific County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the residence located in the 1600 block of State Route 6. As the deputies were arriving in the area, they observed the vehicle leaving the property with a male driver and female passenger. The deputies stopped the vehicle due to the suspicious circumstances. Deputies observed numerous items within the vehicle in plain view. They observed what appeared to be a large heater appliance inside the vehicle as well.

After questioning the driver and passenger of the vehicle and after investigating the residence in question, the deputies placed the male subject identified as Willliam E. Wilhelm, age 51 under arrest for residential burglary and possession of stolen property in the second degree. The female, identified as Brenda D. Wilhelm age 51, was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant for theft in the first degree.

Deputies obtained a search warrant to look into the vehicle for evidence of the crimes. Deputies located drug paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine, several prescription narcotics and items that had been taken from the residence including the large heater. Both William Wilhelm and Brenda Wilhelm were booked into the Pacific County Jail on several charges.

Wanted Man Arrested With the Assistance of K-9 "Ciko"

5/27/2015

North Cove, WA. – On May 25th at about 9:00 PM, Deputy Randy Wiegardt and his K-9 partner “Ciko” were patrolling the North Cove area of Pacific County when he noticed a male subject standing near a vehicle parked at a residence on Willow Lane. Deputy Wiegardt recognized the male subject from previous professional contacts and discovered that the person had multiple outstanding warrants to include a Felony warrant.

Deputy Wiegardt and K-9 “Ciko” contacted the suspect in question. Deputy Wiegardt advised the suspect that he was under arrest for the warrants. The deputy attempted to place wrist restraints on the suspect and the suspect resisted. The suspect also started to reach into his left pocket. The suspect broke free and began to flee. The suspect was warned that the K-9 would be deployed.

The suspect disregarded the warning. Deputy Wiegardt deployed K-9 “Ciko” and after a short chase, the K-9 apprehended the suspect.

The suspect was identified as Daniel K. Baldwin, age 52, of Westport. Baldwin was placed under arrest and transported to the hospital for minor wounds to his hand and forearm. After being treated, Baldwin was booked into the Pacific County Jail for resisting arrest and outstanding warrants
