The Willapa River near Willapa. The warning is in effect for this evening to Wednesday evening. At 10:00 AM Tuesday the river level was 12.8 feet and flowing at 4940 cubic feet per second. Flood stage is 21.0 feet and flood flow is 10800 cubic feet per second. Minor flooding is forecast.
The river is forecast to rise above flood stage around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday December 8, and is expected to crest at 22.5 ft around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday December 9. Expected Impacts include widespread flooding, numerous roads will be flooded with deep and swiftly moving water including Heckard Road and US 101. The magnitude of flooding on US 101 will depend on the tide.
When roads are flooded road surfaces can be undermined or missing, cars can be swept away by as little as a foot of water. When facing flooded roadways, remember, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown”
