Emergency Notification System

Effective September 1, 2013, Pacific County transitioned to a new emergency notification system. The new system has the ability to contact you regarding emergencies via home phone, cellular phone, text message, email, and/or TDD. This system may be used by emergency response personnel to notify specific homes and businesses at risk with information about a disaster or emergency event. You will only be called when the associated address will be impacted by the event.

If you registered your cellular or VoIP phone number prior to September 1, 2013, you are encouraged to re-register and landline users are encouraged to update their information. The new system can be personalized based on your needs and the type of notifications you wish to receive.
The hyper-reach system notifies you by email, phone, and/or text in the event of an emergency. Click on the link to sign-up.  hyper-reach.com/wapacificsignup.html
Pacific County Emergency Notification System | FAQs

1. Why should I sign up for emergency notifications?
The 911 database of landline phones in Pacific County is automatically uploaded to the system and updated quarterly. This upload does not include cellular or VoIP phone numbers. Additionally, there is a chance your number has become outdated or you may prefer to receive emergency notifications through another method (cellular phone, text message, or email). The system offers other options such as weather alerts and the ability to indicate that you require extra assistance due to physical mobility limitations (life support equipment requirements or other difficulties) during a potential evacuation or an emergency that requires you to take shelter.

2. Should I update my landline telephone information?
Updating landline phone numbers is recommended. Even without a cellular phone, you can update your landline telephone information to receive weather alerts or indicate that you require extra assistance due to physical mobility limitations (life support equipment requirements or other difficulties) during a potential evacuation or an emergency that requires you to take shelter.

3. How do I sign up for emergency notifications?
Click on "To sign up click here" above to register through the hyper-reach system. You will need to fill out your address and  select at least one form of communication.

4. Can I sign up by telephone?
It’s best if you sign up by clicking link above. There are questions that should be answered that are specific to each person’s needs, and the disclaimer is extremely long to read over the telephone. However, if you are unable to access a computer, please contact the Pacific County Emergency Management Agency at (360) 875-9340 to register.

5. If I signed up previously, is my number still in the system?
Yes, your number should still be in the system. However, if you have signed up previously, there are some new options within the system that you may want to consider and PCEMA suggests that you visit the community sign up website and register again in order to update your information.

6. Can I sign up more than one phone?
Yes! When you sign up, click on “add another number.” You may want to include your landline and/or VoIP phone as well as cellular phone numbers for all members of your family that reside with you.

7. What is a VoIP phone?
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. If you use a phone that utilizes the Internet for service, you are using a VoIP phone. In Pacific County, Comcast is the most widely used provider of VoIP phone service.

8. Can I sign up for weather alerts?
Yes – there is an option to receive weather alerts. If you registered through the community sign up website, you will receive weather alerts by landline phone, cellular phone, email, text message, and/or TDD depending on the options you selected.

9. When will I receive a weather alert?
Weather alerts are triggered by NOAA and for Pacific County include: tsunami watch, tsunami warning, extreme wind warning, severe thunderstorm warning, and tornado warning.

10. What address should I enter?
Pacific County residents, business owners, and vacation home owners should enter their physical address within Pacific County. Employees may also want to register the physical address of their office to be notified when an event occurs.

11. How often are emergency notifications sent?
Emergency notifications are initiated only when there is a direct threat to life or property in a given area. This does not happen frequently!

12. I received an emergency message on my home phone, but not on my cellular phone.
To receive notifications on your cellular phone sign up by clicking the link above. If you’ve already registered your cellular phone and did not receive a call when you believe you should have, please contact the Pacific County Emergency Management Agency at (360) 875-9338.

13. How often is the system tested?
PCEMA plans to test the system in a county-wide effort one time each year. There may be additional testing as needed and funds allow.
