Upon arriving at the scene, the deputies approached the scene and noticed movement within the residence. Deputies also noticed that the front door to the residence appeared to have been forced open. Deputies saw that the dead bold was missing and the door jamb was damaged. Officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded as well to assist with the containment and search of the residence.
As the deputies were getting ready to enter the residence, a male suspect exited the residence and attempted to flee. The deputies pursued the suspect on foot and found him attempting to conceal himself in some tall shrubbery. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Deputies identified the suspect as Caleb J. Sheaffer, age 31 of Ocean Park. Sheaffer was transported to the Pacific County Jail and booked on a charge of Burglary in the Second Degree. Sheaffer’s bail was set at 50,000.00.
